Victory for Dante de Blasio at State Debate Championship

The city's first lady, Chirlane McCray, took to Twitter to congratulate her son Dante and classmate Sam for winning a debate competition.

She said in the tweet, "Congratulations Dante, Sam and your amazing coaches on winning the State Championship for Policy Debate!"

According to the New York Times, Mayor Bill de Blasio and McCray came out on Saturday to support their son in the preliminary rounds of the tournament at Stuyvesant High School.

Dante told the Times he joined the debate team in his sophomore year because he liked to argue.
